une autre semaine

the weeks go by here so quickly.. i can't believe its already march. we finally have spring weather in provence (although today its cloudy and chilly), but the weekend was sunny and warm. i had all sorts of plans to visit arles and nimes and other towns, but i didnt end up going anywhere this weekend, and i think im okay with that. i tried saturday but missed the bus, so i painted at the art studio instead. sunday i went to le marché aux puces (flea market) in aix.. it was great! everyone here is loaded so the goods were the best quality. otherwise, i did homework.

i've re-dedicated myself to really working on speaking french well. i bought a vocabulary book this weekend (that's where i'm really lacking) and am going to start renting french movies from my school.

i stumbled upon an awesome cemetery yesterday when walking home from the flea market. all of the graves are above ground, and really elaborate with decorations and flowers. i took some pictures and will upload them soon, and plan to go back tomorrow to do some sketches.

my parents are coming this week! i'm super excited for them to get here. its perfect timing because i'm starting to get a little homesick. also, clint a, and i successfully planned spring break: paris, brussels and amsterdam.

still addicted to all sorts of pastries. my new favorite is une brioche aux raisins-- a sticky bun with raisins. mmh mmh.

  1. Another break? Lucky Kim!! Glad to hear mom and dad are visiting, have fun with them!

Pastries sound like a safe food choice for a vegetarian. I'm beginning to think that was your master plan, who the heck needs cheese burgers in Europe when there are delicious pastries everywhere?? Have fun and stay safe babe. XXOO

  2. i've gotten out of control with the pastries.. especially when my parents were here. i ended up eating two breakfasts everyday. =) yummy!

i have to say though, the french definitely don't have blueberry pancakes. or skillets.
